Former Co-Mayor of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Selçuk Mızraklı, is currently held in Edirne Prison. As he had less than one year left to complete his sentence, he applied for release on probation on September 4. The Prison Administration and Observation Board rejected his request on September 8, citing that “during his time in the institution, he did not provide a statement indicating that he had severed ties with the terrorist organization.” Following this rejection, the inmate reapplied, but his second application for probation was also denied. Mızraklı was detained on October 22, 2019, and arrested shortly afterward. On March 9, 2020, he was convicted and sentenced to 9 years, 4 months, and 15 days in prison on the charge of “membership in an organization.”
