Case Summary

A 62-year-old ill prisoner held in Kırşehir Prison has not been released despite completing his sentence. The prisoner, who has been incarcerated for 31 years, had his conditional release postponed for the third time by the Prison Administration and Observation Board on October 14, on the grounds that he “has not severed ties with the organization.” The prisoner suffers from several chronic health conditions, including an aortic heart valve replacement, heart failure, hypertension, high cholesterol, asthma, and an anal fistula, and requires continuous medication. He stated that the ongoing unlawful practices have now turned into a threat to his life. He stated that he has already completed his sentence but has been kept in prison for an additional year. There are growing calls for an investigation into the arbitrary practices of the prison administration.
