Case Summary
Yusuf Özkan, a dismissed teacher who had been expelled by decree (KHK), was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison on charges of alleged membership in the Gülen movement. After the verdict was upheld, he was sent to Konya Ereğli Prison two years ago. Following a football match in the prison yard, he collapsed in his ward and died. Özkan, the father of two children, was laid to rest in Konya. He was the third KHK detainee to die in prison this month.
