Case Summary
İzzet Odabaşoğlu, who was held in Sakarya Ferizli Prison, was a former police officer dismissed from his profession by a decree law (KHK). He had been tried as part of investigations targeting the Gülen movement and sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison. Having completed his sentence, Odabaşoğlu was counting the days to his release; however, just one day before his scheduled discharge, he suffered a heart attack in prison and passed away. The 47-year-old prisoner left behind a 13-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. His funeral was held in Bursa, where he was laid to rest.
