Case Summary

Tayfun Kahraman, an inmate with multiple sclerosis (MS) held in Silivri Prison, is experiencing a worsening of his condition day by day. His health is deteriorating; according to his wife, delays in scheduling MRI scans, low vitamin D levels caused by prison conditions, and the overall living circumstances that accelerate the progression of his illness are raising serious concerns. Following a visit on September 25, his wife reported that Kahraman had been taken to Cerrahpaşa the previous day and was informed that an MRI needed to be performed within two weeks. Previously, he had been given an MRI appointment three months later, leaving his condition insufficiently monitored. The lack of coordination and delays between prison authorities and healthcare institutions are making the monitoring and treatment of Kahraman’s illness increasingly difficult. The family fears for the prisoner’s life.
