Case Summary

Seventy-three-year-old Mehmet Emin Çam, who is held in Beşiri Prison, has suffered two heart attacks while in custody. He has also undergone two kidney surgeries and cataract surgery, suffers from myopic astigmatism, has completely lost hearing in his right ear, and faces difficulty walking due to partial paralysis on his left side. In addition to these conditions, he also struggles with high cholesterol and diabetes, making him unfit to survive under prison conditions. His daughter stated that they are unable to complete even the 15-minute phone calls allowed due to her father’s deteriorating health. Family members report that adequate medical care is not provided in prison and emphasize that he must receive treatment outside. They are calling for his immediate release, expressing deep concern that he may lose his life in prison.
