Held in Erzurum Dumlu Type 2 High Security Prison, Poyraz lives with a platinum implant in his back due to a gunshot wound. He is also surviving with only one kidney and has been unable to use the right side of his body since suffering a stroke. After undergoing surgery for cervical spine straightening, he was briefly transferred to a ward as he could not meet his basic needs on his own, but was later placed back in solitary confinement. His condition has deteriorated day by day, and he is now confined to a wheelchair. It has been reported that he is unable even to meet his toilet needs, and that his only functional limb is his right arm. Although a referral to the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) was requested and an appointment was scheduled, he was never transferred there. It was stated that his body has completely collapsed and that in his current condition it is impossible for him to remain in prison.
