Case Summary

Kemal Ertürk continues to be held in Tekirdağ Prison despite suffering from severe health problems. Incarcerated for 26 years, Ertürk is struggling with multiple chronic and serious medical conditions, including neurological disorders such as Wernicke–Korsakoff syndrome, Type 2 diabetes and its related complications, hypertension, visual impairment, meniscus damage in both knees, herniated disc, stomach ulcer and gastritis, as well as chronic muscle and joint pain. Although he underwent hemorrhoid surgery in 2024, he continues to suffer from ongoing bleeding and severe pain. Ertürk’s medical conditions require regular monitoring and continuous treatment; however, due to prison conditions, his illnesses have worsened significantly. His immediate release is urgently awaited on medical and humanitarian grounds.
