Case Summary
The 76-year-old paralyzed and dementia-stricken prisoner, Yusuf Çağlayan, was sent to Kocaeli (Kandıra) Type T No. 2 Prison. Despite being unable to meet his own basic needs, he was placed under arrest. The prisoner is paralyzed on his left side and had previously been staying at the Çınarcık Care and Rehabilitation Center. His family is deeply concerned, as he is incapable of performing even his personal care in prison. MP Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu questioned who would take care of the prisoner and criticized the decision to imprison someone in such a condition, calling on the Ministry of Justice for an explanation.
