Case Summary

According to the accounts of prisoners held in Sincan Prison, the practices of the prison administration violate the Constitution and international conventions. It was reported that prisoners are given yard time far below the minimum standards, access to Kurdish publications is restricted, detailed body searches are conducted in a degrading manner and in excessive numbers, access to the right to health is largely obstructed, especially foreign prisoners are unable to meet their basic needs, and dental treatments have been postponed for years.² DEM Party deputy Nevroz Uysal Aslan brought these arbitrary practices to the parliamentary agenda and applied to the Parliamentary Human Rights Inquiry Commission.
