Case Summary

Ömer Yaman, held in Tokat Type T Prison, completely lost the vision in his left eye due to being denied his right to treatment. It was reported that Yaman, who refused to accept the arbitrary practices in prison, has been unable to access medical facilities for 6 months. In the mentioned prison, it has been stated that for nearly a year, prisoners who refuse to comply with the practice of mouth searches have been denied transfer to hospitals, their right to treatment has been obstructed, and disciplinary punishments have been imposed on those who reject this practice.2 In addition, Yaman, who suffers from multiple illnesses such as hypertension, glaucoma, and urinary tract infection, is experiencing a worsening health condition.3
