Case Summary
Mehmet Hanifi Emeç, a dismissed police officer under emergency decree (KHK), who is held in Gaziantep Type H Prison, was diagnosed with MS while in prison. Detained on August 5, 2016, and serving 20 months in prison, Mehmet Hanifi Emeç was released at that time due to his illness, but since his sentence was upheld by the Court of Cassation, he was re-imprisoned 9 months ago. Despite having undergone intensive treatment processes, his illness progressed, and once back in prison, he became almost completely bedridden. Emeç has not been able to access his medication for 9 months and is not receiving the necessary medical assistance.2
