Case Summary

Hatice Onaran, held in Gebze Women’s Closed Prison, continues to be imprisoned despite having a medical report stating 79% disability and a diagnosis of colon cancer. The Human Rights Association (İHD) declared that her continued imprisonment is neither lawful nor ethical and called for an end to rights violations against sick prisoners. İHD also sent a letter to the Ministry of Justice demanding her release. Attention has been drawn to the fact that the sentence enforcement regulations included in the 10th Judicial Reform Package have failed to meet expectations.²
