The prison administration reportedly ignores complaints and fails to forward petitions to the relevant authorities. The facility, described as a “well-type” prison, is known for its narrow cells and wards that receive little or no sunlight. Prisoners have reported that failing to maintain cleanliness can result in disciplinary penalties, and there are complaints regarding verbal abuse and threats from prison guards. Prisoners are forced to serve their sentences under both physical and psychological pressure. Recently, Member of Parliament Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu raised these human rights violations and the hardships faced by prisoners at Dumlu Prison in public discussions, highlighting the urgent need for inspection and remedial action.
