Case Summary
İdris Ekinci, held in Sakarya Prison, has been diagnosed with depression and requires regular medication. The former civil servant, dismissed by decree (KHK), reportedly attempted suicide in recent days after being unable to access the medication he needed on a regular basis. Despite the fact that his health condition depended on the use of these medications, the prison administration did not provide them. As a result, the prisoner, who was unable to cope psychologically with the situation, attempted suicide. Following the incident, he was transferred to a hospital, where his treatment is ongoing. The case has drawn attention to the conditions of sick prisoners and their access to healthcare in prisons.
