Hacı Alağaş, a 68-year-old ill prisoner held in Suluca No. 1 High-Security Prison, suffered a heart attack on 25 November. He was transferred to Adana City Training and Research Hospital, where he underwent two angiography procedures. Alağaş remained in the intensive care unit for one week, during which his hands and feet were shackled to the bed. Only one day after being removed from the intensive care unit, he was returned to prison. Alağaş requires uninterrupted access to his medications and a medically prescribed diet, but such care cannot be adequately provided in prison conditions. By being kept in prison, he is deprived of the treatment conditions recommended by doctors. It was previously reported that his medications were not given on time and that his access to healthcare had been obstructed. His family and relatives fear for his life.
