Emine Sarıoğlu was tried on the grounds that she had worked at a private tutoring center that was shut down in Malatya and was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison. Her sentence became final on 30 November 2023. At that time, she was three months pregnant and applied for a postponement of sentence, which was granted for one and a half years. The postponement period ended on 23 October 2025. After the postponement expired, Sarıoğlu surrendered on 27 October 2025 and was transferred to Sincan Women’s Prison. On that date, her 20-month-old daughter also entered prison with her, while her 4-year-old son remained outside with his father. Her husband, Mustafa Sarıoğlu, stated that over the past month at Sincan Prison, he has not been allowed to hold his child during visits and that a restriction has been imposed. Sarıoğlu also applied for a retrial at the Malatya 1st High Criminal Court following the Yüksel Yalçınkaya judgment; however, her request was rejected in October 2024.
