The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on 14 September 2026 that four people had been detained in simultaneous raids conducted by the National Intelligence Organisation (MİT) and the Ankara Police Counter-Terrorism Branch.

According to the statement, carried by Anadolu Agency and the state broadcaster TRT Haber, the four were determined to have sheltered in what the authorities call “gaybubet evleri”, houses used by people wanted over alleged links to the Gülen movement, or to have assisted others sheltering there. Detention orders had already been issued for all four.

The prosecutor’s office described the operation as part of an investigation into what it terms the movement’s “current structure”. No identities were released and no account was given of the evidence. The statement says the investigation continues.

Turkish Justice Ministry figures released in July 2026 record 127,102 convictions for alleged links to the movement since 2016, with 10,485 people in prison, 83,404 cases pending and 33,827 people subject to arrest warrants.

A report published in July 2026 by Johan Vande Lanotte, emeritus professor at Ghent University, inventoried Gülen-related judicial actions reported in the media during 2025. It found that operations directed at the alleged “current structure” accounted for roughly half of all structural actions that year, leading to about 1,500 detentions, and separately recorded around 200 people detained while hiding to avoid enforcement of a sentence, with intelligence service involvement in some cases.

Ten years after the coup attempt, operations of this size are announced as routine, with the conduct stated as established and the evidence undisclosed.
