Case Summary

The release of Abdullah Yılmaz, who has been incarcerated for 30 years in İzmir Kırıklar No. 2 F-Type High Security Prison, was postponed for three months. During his meeting with the board, Yılmaz stated that he did not accept the charge against him and had also expressed this during his trial. Because of these responses, the board concluded that he had “no perception or awareness of the crime.” It was further noted that he was “not participating in activities in a planned manner in order to be considered of good conduct,” and his release was postponed.² His family emphasized that Yılmaz suffers from serious health problems, including kidney disease, surgery on his carotid artery, and living with a stent in his head.³ Criticism of administrative and observation boards continues to grow.⁴
