Şiyar Çiçek, who was held at Eskişehir Prison, died in prison on 22 September 2026. He had been held in pre-trial detention since 2014 and had been held at Eskişehir Prison for approximately two years. He had spent the 10 days preceding his death in a single-person cell. His family reported that Çiçek was in good health and had only diabetes. The family stated that they might have been able to learn what had happened to him had he been held in a ward, but that they had no information about what happened before his death because he had been held in a cell. Although no signs of torture were found on his body, questions remain surrounding his death.
