In the report titled ‘Persons Associated with the Gülen Movement’ published by the Finnish Immigration Office in August 2024, the unlawful practices suffered by the Gülen Movement were revealed in detail. According to the report, based on information provided by a ‘Turkish legal expert and a representative of the Decree Law Victims Platform’, there were ‘12 women who became pregnant after a sexual harrassment during detention, some of whom had to give birth’. The fact that this victimisation mentioned in the report was voiced out loud for the first time in this way is very important in terms of tackling such unacceptable violent torture. Considering the fact that these grievances were experienced in the early days of 15 July and the possibility that the victims did not want to share this due to the magnitude of the brutality they experienced, it is certain that the new information that has emerged is a step towards the prosecution of the perpetrators.
Since its establishment, Solidarity With OTHERS has been monitoring and reporting on unlawful behaviour and has received third-party reports on cases of harassment and rape and has tried to follow up on these cases. However, due to the nature of the crime and the possibility that the victims may not want to share their suffering, sufficient data could not be obtained for the legal follow-up of these allegations.
After these grave allegations were brought to the public attention by human rights experts through the report, we consider it important to prioritise the identification of the crime and its perpetrators regarding the provision of the necessary information and documents in order to clarify the issue and to ensure that the perpetrators are prosecuted within the framework of national and international law by documenting the unlawfulness in this context, we ask and expect everyone who has information and documents to send these data to info@solidaritywithothers.com .
OTHERS share all the data we obtain with the public at https://turkeyrightsmonitor.com, respecting the confidentiality of personal data. Our aim is to ensure that the perpetrators are prosecuted within the framework of national and international law by documenting the unlawfulness.
In line with this purpose; we call on all those who have any information and documents to identify the crime and its perpetrators, human rights expert lawyers and all institutions interested in human rights to investigate this issue and to act together to prevent such victimisation from happening again.
Respectfully,
Solidarity With OTHERS
