Prisoners held in Aksaray T-Type Closed Prison have been experiencing water shortages for two months. Prisoners are unable to meet their basic hygiene needs and are trying to manage with water they purchase themselves from the prison canteen. The problem, which has continued since the beginning of summer, initially started with hot water cuts and later continued with the complete interruption of cold water as well. At times, cold water is unavailable for 24 hours, while at other times, hot water is not provided for two days. The situation has become unbearable for prisoners who are trying to meet their basic needs with water purchased from the prison canteen. Aksaray Prison, which has previously been the subject of reports concerning water cuts and a lice infestation, is expected to take immediate measures to improve the conditions.
