Case Summary

Önder Poyraz, who is being held in Erzurum Prison, has not been released despite suffering from severe health problems. The prisoner, who has been incarcerated for 11 years, is paralyzed on the right side of his body and continues his daily life dependent on a wheelchair. Due to a bullet lodged in his body, he lives with metal implants in his back. The prisoner is trying to survive with a single functioning kidney, as the other kidney does not function properly. Because of his medical conditions, he underwent five to six surgeries while in prison. As a result of these operations, he lost the use of the right side of his body and has been using a wheelchair for the past two years. The prisoner had previously suffered a brain hemorrhage and is reported to remain at risk of experiencing another one. He is unable to meet even his basic daily needs on his own. His family is calling for his release as soon as possible.
