Bahar Yalçınkaya, who was staying in a refugee camp in Switzerland with her two children, was deported to Türkiye. After entering the country, Yalçınkaya was detained and, following one day in detention, was arrested and sent to Bakırköy Women’s Prison. Despite Yalçınkaya’s lawyer in Switzerland informing the authorities that there were ongoing cases and investigations against her client and that she was at risk, a deportation order was issued against her. She was handcuffed with her hands behind her back in front of her two children, aged 15 months and 5, and put on a plane to Türkiye. In Türkiye, Yalçınkaya was subject to ongoing investigations and court proceedings over propaganda-related content allegedly linked to the Kurdish political movement. Following her return to the country, she was arrested in connection with these proceedings.
